Our Youth Ministry Program:
Peace and Love,
Lauren
- Our 4 components are as follows:
- Catechesis: teaching the faith through youth group nights, and bible study
- Service: putting our faith in action through service projects and mission trips
- Social: to build a safe, loving community that teens feel welcomed into. We cultivate this with games at every youth group night, and social events throughout the year
- Prayer: we encourage different forms of prayer, mass attendance, and hold monthly Adoration nights with praise and worship music
- Core Team: These are dedicated young adults who choose to help mentor and serve the youth every week!
- Lauren Gates (youth minister) Shannon Derry, Joe Hogue, Erin Millspaw, Steve Sherman, Michael Stevens, R.J. McLaughlin
- ALL ADULTS HAVE COMPLETED DIOCESAN CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS AND "PROTECTING GOD'S CHILDREN" WORKSHOP
- A Typical Youth Group Night: (every Monday night, Biedenbach Hall)
- 7:00--7:30 Welcome, mix and mingle
- 7:30--8:00 Activity/game
- 8:00--8:30 Main talk
- 8:30--9:00 Small groups, closing prayer, and announcements
- I am very interested in your thoughts and opinions about our program! If you have any ideas about topics you would like to see discussed at YG, ideas for fundraisers, or for service projects, I would love to hear what you have to say! Please feel free to email or call me any time.
- I want to encourage you to consider volunteering with our youth group! I understand that sometimes teens will say "Mom I don't want you there because this is MY time with MY friends!!" But I like to remind the teens that not everything is about them, and I really love having parent help!! While your teen might not appreciate you there, another teen might find your insight helpful!
- There are MANY ways to volunteer. Please let me know if you see yourself with time to fulfill any of these roles:
- Prayer warriors (please please PLEASE continue to pray for us!!)
- Core Team (I only ask my weekly volunteers to commit to 1 Monday a month!)
- Hospitality (we always appreciate food and drinks at our meetings!)
- Drivers (we always also need drivers to and from events and retreats!)
- Fundraiser help (I am looking for coordinators, promoters, and helpers of all kinds!)
- Office help (you don't realize how much you appreciate help until you've had to lick 500 envelopes shut yourself!!)
Peace and Love,
Lauren
